Indications/Uses
Short-term use for symptomatic improvement & healing of GI diseases which require acid secretion reduction eg, duodenal & gastric ulcer, moderate & severe reflux esophagitis, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other pathological hypersecretory conditions.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Long-term management of Zollinger-Ellison syndrome & other pathological hypersecretory conditions Recommended daily dose: 80 mg. Duration of treatment: Not to exceed 8 wk. Rapid acid control Starting dose: 2 x 80 mg w/in 1 hr.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Administration w/ atazanavir.
Special Precautions
Not for mild GI complaints eg, nervous dyspepsia. Exclude possibility of gastric or esophageal malignancy. Renal impairment & severe hepatic impairment. Discontinue use in case of increased liver enzyme. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Upper abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, flatulence; headache.
Drug Interactions
Changed absorption w/ ketoconazole. Monitor prothrombin time or INR w/ phenprocoumon or warfarin. Reduced atazanavir bioavailability.
